Our wineries: Passion for winemaking and respect for the terroir

At Axial Vinos, we work with progressive winemakers, independent or otherwise. We are continually improving and innovating through experimentation. Our methods are sustainable, that’s why we’re close to nature. Terroir is of paramount importance in all our wineries; with the bottom line creating the most beautiful Spanish wines with expression and profundity.

We work using traditional, native grape varieties such as aragonia – the original garnacha grape – and tempranillo, to preserve the old vines’ authentic grape varieties and blends. The garnacha grape dominates in our wineries, and we by now venture to call ourselves garnacha specialists.

The big adventure started collaborating with two wineries: Pagos del Moncayo in Campo de Borja and La Casa de Lúculo in Navarra. Our goal is to make the world’s best garnacha wine. Our persistent efforts and growth have resulted in the first winery entirely of our own in D. O. P. Cariñena: Bodem Bodegas.

Local vineyards. Consummate winemakers.

Three different wineries in three different wine regions. Each with their own vision, style and terroir type. And the end result is multifaceted and essential wines.

BodegaBodem

Bodem’s vineyards are the ideal environment for garnacha. The climate and soil type means this grape reaches its full potential here. Bodem is a modern winery where innovation is paramount. Adept at responding to dynamic international-market demands, without losing sight of the essence and Spain’s traditions.

Bodem’s name – meaning “Soil” in Dutch – honours this region’s earth; we endeavour to produce high-quality wine everyone can enjoy.

BodegaLa Casa de Lúculo

A project born with the aim of revitalising the neglected garnacha vineyards of yesteryear, found at the Mendigorria foothills. Today, Navarra, has become a reference in organic wine production.

Axial Vinos has worked with the wine cooperative since 2004, and fully acquired La Casa de Lúculo in 2004 after a number of years’ close collaboration. This ultimately led to us expanding our range with a new line of young, fresh and fruity wines, Cátulo.

BodegaPagos del Moncayo

Pagos del Moncayo is one of the few wineries where ‘slow winemaking’ occurs. Artisanal production using open barrels, and 100% artisanal winemaking with traditional grape treading. This led to Eco-Prowine awarding Pagos del Moncayo low-emission winery (low CO2) accreditation.

Exceptional Prados wines are made using garnacha and syrah grapes. These grapes are treated with the greatest care by families managing the vineyards and account for the wines’ personality.
